FOUNDATIONAL TRAINING

GUSMESTER

MASTERING THE ART OF SAUNAGUS

17 JANUARY @ 12:30 - 18:30

OVERVIEW

SATURDAY 17 JANUARY

A one-day introduction to the craft of guiding saunagus.

This course is for complete beginners, for those drawn to a personal intensive, and for anyone curious about stepping into the role of space-holder in public or community saunas.

You’ll learn the full flow of a gus session through plenty of hands-on practice, not just theory; spending a good portion of the day inside the sauna refining your technique, building rhythm and developing confidence.

You’ll explore:

• How to use essential oils safely and intentionally.
• The flow of heat: when to fan, pour, and rest.
• Timing, transitions, and gentle pacing.
• How to read a group and adjust to their energy.
• Using your voice and tone to guide presence.
• Building a simple, sensory journey from start to finish.

The training follows Iluma’s calm, grounded ethos where skill and sensitivity meet. You’ll leave with a clear technical foundation, a stronger sense of your own style, and the ability to guide sauna experiences that feel both balanced and authentic.

OLIVIA STAMATAKOS
Lead Trainer

"What matters most to me when guiding sauna sessions is keeping it simple and staying true to what feels real and enjoyable. I won’t encourage you to push harder, but instead to check in with yourself and use the space for what you need: a pause, a cleanse, a moment to think or breathe. The sauna shouldn’t be another place where we have to push through.

I like to guide with slow, gentle build-ups so the nervous system can follow, then play with waves of intensity. Like anything involving the body, going slowly creates less resistance.

I love using music to shape the atmosphere and weaving in words that draw us deeper into the experience."
