Jivamukti is a completely holistic and well-rounded practise. It is very physical yet we draw upon the ancient scriptures, 8 limbs of ashtanga, mindfulness, compassion and we use our voices for singing and chanting.
What is your story with Yoga?
I used to be a professional dancer but in 2014 I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that meant I lost all my muscles and the inner functions of my arms and legs. I was unable to dance and for a few years the disease came back in intervals as I kept pushing myself too much and ending up in hospital. It wasn’t until 2018 that I felt much more stable and it was only through yoga that I could find the right balance.
Tell us 3 things about yourself
I love cocooning as a transformational practise with multi-sensory spaces
I used to work as a circus producer
I love peanut butter – I finished 1kg in less than 3 weeks!
Best piece of advice you've been given?
We’ve always been taught to treat others what you’d treat yourself however I am often someone who gives all my care and love to others and can be harsh on myself. So I turn the phrase on its head to remind me to treat myself how I treat others.
